This page describes, in ordinary language, what happens to information about you when you read Wrought Iron Concepts. The short version is that we gather very little, because the site was built to be read rather than to watch its readers.
Data we deliberately never gather
There are no reader accounts here, no newsletter sign-up, no comment threads and no analytics package counting your clicks. We do not load advertising trackers or social-media pixels. Nothing on these pages builds a profile of your interests, and we have no list of visitors to sell or hand to anyone.
Logs kept by our host
The site is served by a static hosting provider that runs a content delivery network. Like nearly every web server, that infrastructure records technical details of each request, such as the IP address it came from, the browser's user agent string and the time it arrived. Those records exist so the provider can deliver pages quickly, spot abuse and keep the service secure. We do not combine them with anything else or use them to identify individual readers. How long they are retained is set by the hosting provider.
When you write to us
If you send a message to letters@wroughtironconcepts.com, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you wrote. We use that only to read and answer your note, or to act on a correction. Once a conversation has run its course, the messages are cleared out of the inbox. We do not share it with other parties, add it to mailing lists or sell it.
Your cookie-notice answer
When you respond to the cookie notice, your browser stores that one choice locally so the notice does not reappear on every page. The value stays on your device and is not sent back to us. The note on cookies explains how to remove it.
Links that lead elsewhere
A number of our articles send readers to other companies’ sites. Once you follow such a link, you are on someone else's property, and their own privacy terms govern what they collect. It is worth reading those terms before you share anything with them.
Asking about your information
Depending on where you live, you may hold rights such as seeing the information a site holds about you, having it corrected, or having it erased. Because we keep so little, the only material we could normally hold is email you have sent. To ask what we have, or to have it removed, write to the address above and tell us which messages you mean. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can.
When this page changes
If our setup changes, for instance if we switch hosts, we will revise this page so it matches what actually happens. The text published here is always the current version, so a quick reread is the easiest way to stay informed.
